Ingredients

  • 2  tablespoons salt
  • 1  tablespoon sugar
  • 1  tablespoon onion powder
  • 1  tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1  teaspoon paprika
  • ½  teaspoon turmeric
  • ½  teaspoon chili powder adjust for heat
  • 1  teaspoon corn starch
  • ¼  teaspoon citric acid optional

Equipment

  • A small mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • A whisk or fork to mix everything.
  • A spice jar or airtight container to store it.

Method

  1. Grab a clean mixing bowl and set it on the counter. Make sure it is big enough to mix all the ingredients without spilling. Measure and add 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, and 1 tablespoon of garlic powder to your bowl. These are the ingredients that give the seasoning its main flavor.
  2. Put in 1 teaspoon of paprika, ½ teaspoon of turmeric, and ½ teaspoon of chili powder. If you like spicy things, you can add more chili powder. If you do not like spicy food, use just a pinch. Mix in 1 teaspoon of corn starch and ¼ teaspoon of citric acid if you have it. The corn starch helps the seasoning stick to food better, and the citric acid makes the flavors taste brighter.
  3. Use a fork or whisk to mix everything until it is well blended. Make sure there are no lumps and that all the colors are mixed evenly. This should take about 1 minute. Take a tiny taste to see if you like it. If you want it to be saltier, add a little more salt. If you want it to be spicier, add more chili powder. This is your chance to make it perfect for your taste.
  4. Pour the seasoning into a clean spice jar or airtight container. Keep it in a cool, dry place, like your pantry. It will stay fresh for months. Label it with the date so you know when you have made it. Keep it in a cool, dry place like your spice cabinet. Now it is ready to sprinkle over hot, crispy fries! The seasoning works best when the fries are still hot because it sticks better.
